Document to detail requirements for Check Point IPS-1 platform.
Check Point IPS-1 Components
Check Point IPS-1 platform comprised by two components:
Smart Center Server. (a) IPS-1 either will be separate service or, (b) Smart Center managment plug-in 2009.
IPS-1 Sensor
IPS-1 Sensor Options
The two deployment options for IPS-1 sensor are as follows:
Check Point IPS-1 appliance -- various models available
IPS-1 software (SPLAT R65.1+) installed on supported hardware (aka "Open Server").
Note: Smart Center requires valid license.
Open Server Ethernet Bypass
Ethernet bypass (aka "fail open") accomplished for Open Server strategy using Check Point supported NIC purchased separately from Silicom. See Check Point price list for more details.
These NIC's are PCI-X or PCI-e x8 (express).
